ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING

Periodic and continuous automatic environmental monitoring

Monitoring is the legal evidence of compliance. We arrange periodic sampling at VILAS-accredited laboratories and advise on continuous automatic monitoring systems for large discharge sources.

What we do

  • Design the monitoring plan: locations, parameters and frequency per the environmental permit
  • Sampling and analysis at VILAS-accredited laboratories
  • Advise on continuous automatic monitoring systems (sources from 1,000 m³/day require automatic monitoring) and data transmission to the provincial DoNRE
  • Trend analysis for early warning before limits are exceeded

Process

01

Define monitoring duties

Read the permit conditions to fix mandatory locations, parameters and frequency.

02

Field sampling

Sample per procedure with records, seals and preservation within allowed holding times.

03

Analysis & test report

A VILAS laboratory analyses the samples and issues legally valid test reports.

04

Assessment & recommendation

Compare with standards, highlight near-limit parameters and recommend operational or chemical adjustments.

Who needs this service

Plants with periodic monitoring duties stated in the environmental permit
Large discharge sources required to install continuous automatic monitoring and transmit data
Plants wanting internal control before regulators take inspection samples

Frequently asked questions

When is continuous automatic monitoring mandatory?

Under current rules, high-volume wastewater sources (from 1,000 m³/day) and certain high-risk sectors must install continuous automatic monitoring transmitting data to the provincial DoNRE. The exact condition is stated in each facility’s permit.

How often is periodic monitoring required?

The frequency is set by the permit, commonly quarterly or semi-annually for wastewater depending on scale and sector. We review your permit and build a full-year monitoring schedule.

Are your monitoring results accepted by authorities?

Samples are analysed by VILAS-accredited laboratories eligible for environmental monitoring under the regulations, so the test reports are valid for reporting dossiers.
